Notorious - Drwg-Enwog

Major Solo Show at Oriel Myrddin Carmarthen.
9th January to 15th March 2016.

Notorious/ Drwg-Enwog was my last major solo show at Oriel Myrddin, Carmarthen.

Read the Wales Arts Review of the show here.

The exhibition featured 30 new portraits together with 20 wooden panel paintings based on the 'Felon's Register' from Carmarthen Gaol which contains very early prison photography from the 1860's.  The Felon's Register itself was on loan in the exhibition on loan from Carmarthen Archives.

Each portrait is based on a real person and event from Carmarthen's Victorian past, asylum and workhouse inmates, drunks, prostitutes, officials fallen from grace, abandoned mothers and the occasional oddity.

There was also an artist talk at the gallery on Tuesday 16th February and I  lead a sketchbook walk around Carmarthen Museum on Saturday 5th March.

The exhibition was very well attended and gained a positive review from Wales Arts Review.  It was also covered on S4C's Heno programme and on Radio Cymru and Golwg.

For me the main success was linking the exhibition to the town and bringing in local people who wouldn't normally attend the gallery.
